I'm so excited about these and the work that I'm doing next week. These chairs will be in Tim Peaks Diner at the Kendal Calling Music Festival. The fabric was a special print run using this amazing Tim Burgess heads design by Pete Fowler. Pete's work is ace - check it out at http://monsterism.net. I'm also doing the outdoor seating for the Diner so I'll post pictures next week!
These were 2 custom made footstools for birthday presents. These have a hinged, padded lid upholstered in authentic Brasilian coffee sacking. The wineboxes serve as a handy storage space too.
This was a very special piece of work for a golden wedding anniversary present. An uber-cool Parker-Knoll wingback lovingly restored using Abraham Moon Fabric..
This is one my favourite pieces, which is ironic, as it was one the most difficult challenges I've faced so far. The Abraham Moon fabric has a beautiful multicoloured check, but the vertical and horizontal pattern repeat made it incredibly tricky to keep everything in line - anyone who's ever watched the Great British Sewing Bee will know what I'm talking about!
But accomplishing the task isn't the only reason I love this chair. The real reason is that this chair had been in my customer's family for a long time. It was really important to her that the work was top quality and she was really pleased with the final result. Now it can stay in her family for many more years to come. That, for me, is why I love doing this work.
These are the first two of a set of eight dining chairs I'm recovering. I've used a luxurious natural linen embroidered with flowers for these carvers - for the remaining six, I'll be covering them in a matching 'Highland twill' by Ian Mankin.
I'll post photos of the others as soon as they're done!
This was a fun commission - I took a dilapidated old wingback armchair and gave it a unique new lease of life with black velvet and imitation zebra hide!
I love working on retro furniture so these 2 latest commissions were a joy to do! The armchair is finished in Sanderson Rya fabric from their 1950s collection - an excellent choice to suite the style of the chair. The fabric on the dining chair is by my favourite designer Holly Zollinger - the vibrant blue looked amazing! I have some of that left too so if you like it and have an occasional chair to cover then get in touch!! Great fabric choices customers - hurray!
Love wine? Love putting your feet up? Then you'll love these. I take genuine French wooden wine boxes and fit a hinged lid that is then upholstered in whatever material takes your fancy. This one is covered in a hard wearing but beautiful fabric from Abraham Moon. They have a really handy storage space - excellent for tidying away your TV remote, games controls and even knitting! The price depends on the fabric you choose but this one is for sale at £75 (a bargain compared to what you'd pay on the high street).
As well as selling original work, I'm happy to take commissions. Here's a selection of my recent projects...
