This is one my favourite pieces, which is ironic, as it was one the most difficult challenges I've faced so far. The Abraham Moon fabric has a beautiful multicoloured check, but the vertical and horizontal pattern repeat made it incredibly tricky to keep everything in line - anyone who's ever watched the Great British Sewing Bee will know what I'm talking about!
But accomplishing the task isn't the only reason I love this chair. The real reason is that this chair had been in my customer's family for a long time. It was really important to her that the work was top quality and she was really pleased with the final result. Now it can stay in her family for many more years to come. That, for me, is why I love doing this work.

These are the first two of a set of eight dining chairs I'm recovering. I've used a luxurious natural linen embroidered with flowers for these carvers - for the remaining six, I'll be covering them in a matching 'Highland twill' by Ian Mankin.
I'll post photos of the others as soon as they're done! This was a fun commission - I took a dilapidated old wingback armchair and gave it a unique new lease of life with black velvet and imitation zebra hide!
